When a person files a rape charge, do the police immediately arrest the suspect?
Do the police immediately arrest the suspect or do they do an investigation first to decide? And do they bust down the suspect's door or arrest him at his job?

- It depends on how strong the evidence is. And they'll arrest him where they'll find him. It's unlikely they'll bust down his door, unless he's a convicted felon who is known to be armed. Most likely, they'll knock. It's a lot easier that way.
- Most of the time, no....unless the rape is an extremely violent act and the evidence is overwhelming. Most rape reports are false reports, either to seek revenge or for attention. Therefore, police attempt to interview the suspect before placing him under arrest.
- The suspect will be questioned , evidence will be gathered ... if a case can be put together against the suspect he will be arrested . They don't just run out and knock down someone's door because you tell them to.
- NO they investigate first...many "rape" charges are found to be false...unfortunatly making it harder on the women who suffer the real thing....
- There is certain protocol that detectives have to follow. First of all the victim has to go to a certain ward in hospital and a procedure is done. A "rape kit" is done on the victim, if they find the victim was indeed raped and she knew the person they will go and arrest. However if the rapist was not known then they will have to go on information such as description and prints alone. They also have to DNA match from samples taken from the victim for a confirmation. A suspect is sometimes not immediately arrested without proof. It depends on circumstances of the report. If detectives have the opportunity to arrest someone for rape they will go to where ever the suspect is to pick him up. They can also give the suspect the opportunity to surrender himself at the station.
