I suspect elder abuse of a friends mother. The son has full access to her account. he just bought a motor home?
He is planning on going to Mexico in 2 days. He placed his mom in a nursing home. She has assets, or did, and she has to exhaust those funds before the state will pay for her care. I suspect the son has - over the last year - taken her money and is leaving the country. How can her/his bank accounts be frozen immediately so that if he has done anything with his mom's assets he won't have access till an auditing is be done. Time is of the essence. He's leaving the country.

- Have you tried talking to the mother herself? without being somewhere related in the family I don't know of much else you can do because it's all just hear-say... I advise calling local authorities, or with the mother's consent their banker...
- Stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one. Contact local authorities and the banks if you know which ones they are. If you are not a direct relative, your options are limited. Sorry to say.
- Not being related to this lady, your hands are somewhat tied. However, if you suspect any type of elder abuse you should report it to Adult Protective Services. Explain what you know/suspect and they will at least investigate the situation and you'll feel better for attempting to help. One of the many things APS investigates are the elderly who are/or are suspected to be, being financially exploited by someone outside the nursing home.
- Tell the nursing home.
- Maybe he is just going on vacation and has placed his mother in a nursing home so they can take care of her while she is gone. What proof do you have that he has used her funds? Or do you just think this because he is someone you do not like? If he placed his mother in a nursing home, he has already gone over the financial situation with the appropriate people there. Unless you are somehow entitled to that information by law, it does not have to be shared with you.
