Suspect Businesses

What should I suspect to be the problem for my laptop not powering on after rain poured all over it?

Should I suspect the hard drive or the motherboard? Also, it would be helpful if you can provide info on how much would it cost to replaced the moboard if that is the problem. Model: Sony VAIO VGN-S460. It is no longer under warranty. If the electrics shorted out , how do i go about fixing it? I left it the laptop off for several days now, and tried again today to no avail.

  1. Um, I think everything needs to be replaced.
  2. .
  3. hard drive probably crashed sorry dude
  4. Cost of replacing all that and the downtime dumpster it get new.
  5. Electronics and water are known enemies. The best you can hope for is that is works out after drying out good. Did it get saturated and sit in the water awhile or just get a brief shower?
  6. I got quoted around 400 English pounds for a Sony Vaio laptop motherboard and I don't think it was even new, even though it is almost certainly a different model it is an indication that they ain't cheap but if it got wet by being left on and open in heavy rain it is possible that the electrics might have shorted out which would mean if you dry it out thoroughly and patiently, using a hairdrier, there is a chance it might actually be recoverable. They can be quite robust sometimes, and at other times they crash and die just by looking at them, so while I'm not saying your chances are good, I wouldn't write the motherboard off just yet.
