How important is interviewing a suspect before arresting when possible? I have asked many questions involving evidence, and arrest procedures, I am just wondering in the course of an investigation, how important is it to try and get an interview first. It seems that it is very rare that there is enough evidence to have the so-called slam dunk case. Very rarely the evidence collected initially is so overwhelming that officers can just go out and arrest the suspect without an interview and charge them. So my question is, when possible how important is an interview with the suspect, or suspects before seeking arrest warrants or just plain charging them. For instance, you have a burglary or robbery, while processing the scene you find some physical evidence inside of the location, that is not easily, or normally assessable to anyone but the victim, later you match the evidence to a suspect that is not known by the victim. This is obviously damning evidence, so is an arrest warranted or should an interview be next. I know cases are like puzzles so it seems that an interivew (when p
How do police question a suspect if suspect has lawyer who tells him not to talk? Suspect stole money from safe. He was one of 5 who had combination, but the other 4 persons discovered and reported the theft to police. The suspect was observed many times coming from area where safe was located, the suspect left his actual signature on labels found in safe, hair samples were in safe as well as a contact name of someone who may have helped him, but police will not go further with an investigation because suspect will not talk. How can the police proceed investigating crimes when suspects are informed not to talk with them?
How easy would it be for the police to pretend a suspect snitched as punishment? Say police captures a suspect. The suspect does not talk, so as punishment the police pretends the suspect snitched. For example, when they catch someone else for an unrelated crime, they drop hints that it was the first suspect who snitched on them. This would pressure the first suspect to break, since everyone thinks he snitched anyway. Could this work?
How do you help a spouse who therapists suspect was sexually abused as a child? She is 30, and was diagnosed with BPD after I caught her cheating. The cheating had been going on a long time. She says there is a darkness inside of her. Therapists suspect abuse in her childhood. She is currently on Seroquel, Lamictil and Zoloft, and seems to have little interest in anything. I want to help her, our marriage and our family, but I feel so helpless!
What is the law on selling alcohol if you suspect the purchaser will give it to someone underage? Most major supermarkets refuse to serve groups of young people unless all of them can provide proof of ID. When you are genuinely not purchasing for anyone under age, you are made to feel like a criminal. Are they legally obliged not to sell if they suspect you're buying for under 18s, as in could they be fined etc? I would have thought the person who was doing the buying would be the one punished. Where does the law stand on this?
How can I depict the humiliation of a male suspect by a rogue cop? I am producing a short film about a rogue cop who goes about humiliating his suspects as part of his power trip. I am trying to fill gaps in the scene where the corrupt cop arrests a male suspect. How can I depict the unfair humiliation that the suspect suffers, without making the film seem comical and ridiculous. Pat down/frisk searches can be humiliating, and I was also thinking of a delousing scene. This is a psychological drama about a police officer's abuse of power, so any other ideas?

What is more important at the scene of a crime, treating a victim or arresting a fleeing armed suspect? A very controversial issue in dealing with emergency conditions at a crime scene can occur when there are injured victims needing medical aid and there is an armed suspect attempting to flee. Should you render aid and permit the suspect to escape and possibly harm others, or do you apprehend the suspect and risk the life of the victim? Which do you consider the most important and why? Provide legal as well as moral arguments.

How can police stop a suspect that is high on PCP? In one of my classes today, we were talking about hallucinogens. The teacher ending up talking about PCP for like 5 minutes. After listening to the fact that PCP is an anesthetic (pain killer), I wonder how police could stop a suspect who is fighting back and can't feel pain. Let's suppose the suspect has a warrant for his or her arrest and a police officer is trying to arrest the person. If the suspect resists arrest and the officer can't overpower the person, what should the officer do?
What questions would a detective ask a suspect on a muder case? I writing a story for a creative writing class, but i'm not exactly sure of all the questions a detective would ask a susoect about the murder. When an officer commits a wrong against the suspect do you sue the officer or the whole Police Department? When an officer commits a wrong against the suspect do you sue the officer or the whole Police Department? And why? It doesn't seem fair for the whole Police Department to be in trouble for an officer's mistake...Even the best trained officers do mistakes so why should everyone suffer in the Lawsuit? What do you say to a woman you suspect is a cougar? This older woman comes in to my store on occasion buys something small and flirts. She's attractive for her age and does not have a wedding ring. If a fleeing suspect or criminal is running from the police in a automobile? Who's responsible for all the cost for damages if the suspect/criminal crashes into another car even though. 1. The police makes him crash. Pitt Maneuver? 2. The Vehicle was stolen? 3. State Barricades and signs are damaged? I'm just curious how all those damages to public and private property get paid. In other words, do they make the guy leading the police pay for all those damages to private and public property or do the tax payers and insurance companies end up with the bill?
What can I do if I suspect a retailer or manufacturer of fraud with mail in rebates? I often am denied mail-in rebate claims for reasons which are untrue. In the past, I kept shoddy records of my mail-in rebates, but because of a series of unjustifiable denials, I now keep scrupulous records. When I received a recent rebate denial, I was told that I hadn't included the UPC, when in fact I had. I responded via US mail with a statement that I no longer had the original (because I sent it to them), but I had a copy, which I enclosed. They never responded. Today, I received another denial from another software company. This time, they claimed that I purchased the product outside the rebate eligibility period, when the receipt clearly shows that I was. The purchases were made from the same store (Fry's Electronics), but the rebates involved different companies (Cakewalk and Sony). I suspect that these players routinely deny a certain number of claims in the hopes that consumers give up. I am tired of laying down for this crap. What can I do?
What should I do if I suspect a family member is getting involved in a sect? Serious answers only, please. I suspect a family member (my sister) might be involved in a sect. At first I thought it was just something flaky, with new age meetings and such, an it sounded pretty harmless, but now she's talking about astral projection in dreams, and getting into new "levels", during meetings and dealings with the underworld and stuff like that. And the way she's talking, I'm worried her critical mind is gone and she just takes all these things for hard cash, without questioning what's going on and what's behind the "teachings" of this group. Of course, I don't want to be preachy and scare her off. How should I approach this? What should I do? Any input from people with experience with this kind of thing, or knowledge of psychology would be greatly appreciated.
Can local police chase a suspect on a base? If a city police department witness residential robbery, and chase the suspect, only to have the suspect flee back to his military base, can the local police travel on to the military base to pursue this criminal? If not, would matters change if the man is a suspect of drug trafficking, and is being chased by the F.B.I.? Also, we're assuming the suspect arrives at the gate before police arrive, and gets through.
What should a patient do if they suspect their doctor has feelings for them etc? I know it's usually the other way around, but I'm being treated quite regularly by a doctor at the minute and I suspect he has developed feelings for me. It makes me feel slightly uncomfortable, I mean he's nice, but I don't feel attracted to him in that way. He has said that we should go for dinner some time etc etc. Should I just carry on saying no (in a polite way) everytime he asks me or should I find another doctor?
I suspect elder abuse of a friends mother. The son has full access to her account. he just bought a motor home? He is planning on going to Mexico in 2 days. He placed his mom in a nursing home. She has assets, or did, and she has to exhaust those funds before the state will pay for her care. I suspect the son has - over the last year - taken her money and is leaving the country. How can her/his bank accounts be frozen immediately so that if he has done anything with his mom's assets he won't have access till an auditing is be done. Time is of the essence. He's leaving the country.
Do you suspect any secret alliance between Radical Muslims and neo-Nazis now a days? Radical Muslims allied with the Nazis in world war II against western democracy (USA, France, and England) and Jews but the were defeated. could those gather themselves and fight a secret war? I suspect it is true because radical Muslims and neo-Nazis are using the same excuses against the Us + allies and the Jews. Nazis allied with the Radical Muslims of the Balkan during world War II.
What steps does a teacher take to if they suspect child abuse? I'm going to school to be a teacher and I have to make a brochure and one of the things i have to put on there is the steps a teacher should take if they suspect child abuse. Can anyone help me out? I know a teacher has to report it, but I don't know the steps involved or who exactly the teacher reports it to. If you know personally, or if you can direct me to a website that might help me out that'd be great. Thanks in advance
What would happen if a US detective went to a foreign country to capture a suspect? Like say if a detective is tracking a suspect in the US and the suspect flies out of the country and hides in, say, Cameroon Africa... would a US detective be able to board the plane with a gun (since he/she IS a cop afterall) and go to Africa to find and capture the suspect? Would there be any legal ramifications for the detective to do this?
Is it for a police officer to pursue anouther suspect with you in the car? Me and my boyfriend were pulled over the other night and right in the middle of him running our plates and his ID he throws my boyfriend in the backseat and takes off. He came back about 10 minutes later and my boyfriend tells me that he had chased another suspect during that time. Neither one of us think this is legal but we are not sure. Please help us out!!( also we live in Missouri if that matters).
Can city police chase a suspect onto a military base? If a city police department witness residential robbery, and chase the suspect, only to have the suspect flee back to his military base, can the local police travel on to the military base to pursue this criminal? If not, would matters change if the man is a suspect of drug trafficking, and is being chased by the F.B.I.? By the way, I'm not saying he'd bust through the gate. I'm saying he'd arrive at the gate, show his ID, and go through before the police arrive, but the police see him from a distance.

What is the difference between the rights of a terrorist suspect and the rights of an every day American? I hear all the time about how terrorst suspects do not deserve the protections of the constitution. I know that these people are not actually convicted of anything yet. The only difference between them and the rest of us is someone pointed at them and said "Terrorist". The government may or may not have any evidence to back up the claim, and do not feel compelled to produce any. Evidence they do have may only be that someone was tortured into accusing the suspect. So what stops the government from using the powers supposedly there to fight terrorists from using them against me or you? What stops them from using those powers to maintain a grasp on power and intimidate anyone with an oposing view? Are there any safeguards against abuse?
I suspect my cough prescription is wrong but label is right, what can I do to check it? I went to a new pharmacy in my area and I suspect the pharmacist gave me a different cough medicine in my bottle than what is labeled. It has absolutely no effect on me as it usually helps me sleep and stops my wheezy cough. It tastes like pure cherry flavoring. Is there a way to have the medicine analyzed? He also tried to fill all my refils and make me pay for them (4 scripts in all for expensive asthma meds) and I was alarmed as he did charge me for 2 same inhalers!! The others, he said, my insurance would not let him fill!!! The cost was already over 100!!. He was the cookiest pharmacist and his helper was rolling her eyes at him while he muttered to himself. Very strange.

My co-worker sent me an amazing video of a police dog attacking a suspect? The dog jumps over the roof of the car to attack the suspect who is firing the gun and brings the man down. The police then then run over to the suspect and draw their weapons. Have you seen this. Where did it happen? Is it real or just for training purposes? The fact that one of the cops aims his gun at the driver leads me to believe it is real. Thanks!
Will DNA testing eventually tell us what an unknown suspect looks like in a criminal case? It's not unusual for unknown suspects to leave behind DNA evidence at crime scenes. Often it takes years for the DNA to be linked to a particular person, and it's often because the suspect in question has had encounters with the authorities in other cases and has submitted DNA samples. Will DNA testing eventually enable us to tell what the carrier of the DNA looks like, even if we can't put a name with the DNA?
What are the effects of eating a chocolate chip cookie I suspect has marijuana in it? I suspect that I ate a chocolate chip cookie with marijuana in it because I had it in my math class and the room, although it was brand new, it smelled like marijuana smoke and, being a non-smoker, I know what marijuana smoke smells like. So, once again, what are the effects of eating a chocolate chip cookie I suspect has marijuana in it?
What is "have reasonable grounds to suspect" when police stop you? Basically when police stop you, it says that if they want to search your car they either have to: 1. Have your permission to search your car. 2. Have a search warrant. 3. Have reasonable grounds to suspect there are drugs, stolen property, etc in the car. But what is "have reasonable grounds to suspect" do they have to actually have a strong suspision eg. there is drug parafinalia on display on the car or is it just another extremely vague law that police officers car exploit?
Do you suspect any secret alliance between Radical Muslims and neo-Nazis now a days? Radical Muslims allied with the Nazis in world war II against western democracy (USA, France, and England) and Jews but the were defeated. could those gather themselves and fight a secret war? I suspect it is true because radical Muslims and neo-Nazis are using the same excuses against the Us + allies and the Jews. "Hugo", if you read the history, you find that The Nazis allied with any race to achieve their goal. "Arch 0050", the Nazis allied with the radical Muslims of the Balkan, they both persecuted Serbs, Gypsies and Jews, and the Albanian were a member of the Nazi SS.
How do I tell my always-in-denial parents that I suspect that I have skin cancer? I have a mole on my leg that is darker and bumpier than usual. It hasn't bled or itched, but if you look closely there is a tiny scab right in the middle of the mole. The edges look slightly faded and I am worried. The only problem I have is telling my parents that I suspect something is wrong; they are always busy and every time I try to open up to them about something they are just in denial and say things like "Don't worry about it" or "We already have enough to do..." I know for a fact that if I try to say something about this mole they will just ignore it and tell me that nothing is wrong... How do I get them to listen to me and to save me from something potentially life threatening? Please help me... P.S. I have been playing tennis for three years and I have spent a great deal of time in the bright hot sun... Any advice is well appreciated, thank you. I am 16 years old...
Does the victim have to be in the car for the suspect to be charged with hijacking? Don't really understand the definition of hijacking please explain if the person has to be in the car or near for the suspect to be charged with hijacking? If during a pursuit chase, and the cops runs over the suspect? If the police are involved in a pursuit chase, and the suspect decides to bail out, on foot, and one of the officers lost control of his car, and hit the suspect, injuring him, would that be justified? Now what if the officer hit the suspect with such great force, and killed the suspect, that would also be justified right? Please, no rude comments.
Should the police and the press have named the suspect in the Madeleine case? I know there have been a lot of questions regarding this case here on Yahoo Answers and some of you you are getting tired of reading them, but this is the first and last question I will ask regarding this case. So no stupid answers like "You are the millionth person to ask a question about this." please. Do you think that the name of the suspect should have been released to the media? It looks like now he is no longer a suspect. I feel that by releasing his name the police have endangered his life and a lot of people will always point the finger at him in the future. I thought people were supposed to be innocent until proven guilty? Do you think that the police and the media should have shown more discretion regarding this case?
If someone is turned down for a job and they suspect it is because of their weight, is it illegal? Someone applies for a job and is turned down after an interview where they were told they were one of the best interviews ever, and then are turned down for the job and no reason is given to them. They suspect that it could be their weight (health insurance reasons etc) that they were turned down for. Is that illegal and what options/rights does the person have to find out why they were turned down?
Does this story sound suspect to you? Someone I know claims 3 -$100 bills and a $20 bill were stolen fron her purse. Yet 1-$100 bill was left as she had all her money in the same place. Why would a thief leave the $100 bill? Why not take it all, the culprit took most of it anyway? This story seems suspect to me. But I'd like some other opinions. I put this question in this section because this "DO it Yourselfers" are honests people because they are open and honest to the fact the they do it themselves.
